According to foreign media reports, North American aluminum extrusion output hit a record high in 2018.

Manufacturers shipped 5.51 billion pounds in 2018, an increase of 4.5% compared to 2017.

In 2018, the construction industry was still the largest consumer market for aluminum extrusion products, with shipments of 2.12 billion pounds, followed by the transportation industry with shipments of 1.82 billion pounds.

Automobiles and light trucks are the main growth markets for the consumption of extrusion products. Since 2006, the industry’s shipments have increased by more than 72%.

In 2018, imports of North American aluminum extrusion products continued to grow, with a total of 472 million pounds. The import penetration rate increased to 8.4% in 2018 and 7.5% in 2017. The peak import volume in 2010 was 488 million pounds. The top five source countries for imports in 2018 are: Mexico, Vietnam, Malaysia, Indonesia and China.
