The Indian aluminum industry is dissatisfied with the preferential treatment enjoyed by steel producers. Rahul Sharma, vice president of the Indian Aluminum Association, said that over the years, thanks to government regulation, India’s steel imports have dropped by 21%. Sharma also expressed concern about the continued growth of scrap aluminum imports. Since the United States announced a 10% tariff on imported aluminum in March last year, and China imposed a 25% tariff on aluminum scrap imported from the United States, India has become its most popular Dumping ground for scrap aluminum. According to statistics, from January to March, India has replaced China as the largest aluminum scrap importer.
